Our Florida Vacation!

Warning: This post is picture heavy... because.. well.. I love pictures!

It's that time of year again.. where the days are getting warmer and my heart starts longing for a nice family vacation. We are homeschoolers so I guess I should say a nice family field trip. This year we decided on a road trip.. yay!! We were gone five days and every moment of it was magical. I couldn't have wished for anything more. Ok, maybe for it not to be snowing when we traveled to TN. But otherwise it was perfect!

Saturday night we left around 2am and traveled to Florida.. where we would spend three nights. On the way there we visited St. Augustine, Daytona Beach (Ponce De Leon Lighthouse), Blue Spring State Park and then traveled to Orlando to our hotel (Cabana Bay Beach Resort).

We stopped in St. Augustine to enjoy lunch at Steak N Shake

Daytona Beach (Ponce De Leon Lighthouse): Daddy and Aidan went to the top of the lighthouse. Noah and Mommy made it up two flights of stairs and chickened out, haha!

Blue Spring State Park: This park was amazing! If you travel to Florida you don't want to miss it. Several hundred manatees can be viewed from the overlooks. This became my husband and sons favorite part of our trip!

Cabana Bay Beach Resort: Our hotel.. right in the middle of Universal. We loved it here. There was a bowling alley, arcade, Starbucks, two pools with slides, a lazy river, fitness center, places to shop and multiple restaurants all inside the hotel! There were also many activities going on at the hotel.. roasting marshmallows, movie night at the pool and more! One thing that was very convenient was the bus stop at the front of our hotel every 10 mins... a nice air-conditioned free ride to anywhere inside Orlando.

Monday we hopped on the bus and spent the day at Universal Studios! This park is incredible! The detail put into the rides, the characters who COMPLETELY stay in character.. I could go on and on. We loved it!!

If you visit Universal Studios you have to try Butter Beer! It's non-alcoholic and amazing.. kind of like a cream soda with caramel (We liked it frozen).

Another wonderful drink, Pumpkin Juice. It was like drinking a bottle of fall!

When the park closed at 7pm we stayed a few hours at CityWalk right outside of the park. Many shops, restaurants and just tons of fun things to do!

Tuesday morning we traveled to Cocoa Beach (around an hour from Orlando). It was a nice scenic drive (except all the toll booths).. we even passed Kennedy Space Center which we will definitely be visiting in the near future.

The boys loved visiting The Dinosaur Store in Cocoa Beach. A must stop for children!

Wednesday was travel day. We left our hotel and drove a little over eight hours to Chattanooga, TN. We stopped to enjoy fun things along the way and the boys loved driving through Atlanta, Georgia with all the big buildings. Another place we will visit again soon!

Thursday morning we visited Ruby Falls and Rock City. We had plans to visit the Incline but with the snow and cold weather it was shut down for the day. Unfortunately, Rock City was a bit of a let down since we couldn't see anything but fog from the overlook... but we made the best of it and "tried" to enjoy the snow.

Ruby Falls

Rock City

Our adventure had ended and it was time to head home... however, we did have to make a stop in Knoxville, TN at Aubrey's for their wonderful desserts and Pizza Rockefeller .

It's nice to be home and sleep in our own beds.. see our family and friends... but we are also counting down to our next family adventure.. stay tuned!
