Prayers That Changed History - Book Review

One prayer can change everything, says bestselling author Tricia Goyer in Prayers That Changed History.
Martin Luther. Sojourner Truth. Helen Keller. St. Patrick. We read their stories, and of other people like them, in history books and hear about the amazing things they did to change the world. But one part of the story is often left out: Each one of them wouldn’t have accomplished what they did without prayer.
In Prayers That Changed History, the stories of twenty-five notable people are presented along with how prayer changed their lives and changed history. Following each historical example is a biblical story that ties to that person’s life and actions, as well as ways you can use the power of prayer in your life as well. Because God isn’t done changing the world yet, and he would love to use you to make history.
Includes images of each historical figure.

I am a homeschool Mother of two young boys and this book has been a big help in our history studies! We have learned parts of history that we didn't know before. It has also brought about many discussions that have helped my children to learn more about our past. This is a wonderful read to show your children that no prayer is too big or too small. God hears our prayers today just as he heard and answered prayers for people through-out history. No one is too young or too old to learn how to pray.

Owls - Book Review

My children joke around that Mommy has an obsession with Owls. I just find them to be such cute, majestic animals... so I guess I have a little obsession. I was happy when given the opportunity to review Owls (Our Most Charming Bird), written by: Matt Sewell. This book is full of beautiful pictures of owls and details about each different type of owl. This is a great coffee table book. A wonderful conversation starter. So if you like owls and want to bring them into your home... this is the book for you!

Longing For Paris - Book Review

For anyone who has ever daydreamed of another life . . .
Most days, you wouldn't trade what you have for the world. You love your husband and your kids, and you are grateful to God for your life. But there are days when you feel as though life is rolling over you in waves and you are just going through the motions. You find yourself aching for something more, something that is calling to depths of who you are, maybe for something you can't even name.

For Sarah Mae, it was Paris, a place that is known for breathtaking beauty, inspiring art, and exquisite food. But as she searched her heart, she found there was more to her longings than she anticipated.

Join Sarah Mae in Longing for Paris, a soul-searching, light-filled journey for the woman who knows she can't uproot her life to discover herself and her longings, but who desperately wants to uncover them so she can get unstuck and choose a life that is filled with beauty, adventure, and deep joy . . . right where she is.

This was an excellent book. I just couldn't put it down. The author, Sarah Mae is honest and open about her life experiences and the longing that lived in her heart. Her book opens your mind to your own longings and shows that scripture and the love of the Lord can help us with our daydreaming and everyday life. I felt happiness reading her thoughts and knowing that God is the ultimate source of our hearts deepest desires.

This book only gets better the more you read.... reminding all of us that Paris can be in our own backyard!
